Alpendorf acts as the entry point into the vast Salzburger Sportwelt ski region that includes the villages of Wagrain, Flachau, Zauchensee and 6 others! In total it covers some 270 lifts and forms the backbone of the much larger Ski Amadé region. The ski area offers a wide variety of pistes and is well suited to groups of mixed ability. Beginners will find lots of confidence-boosting pistes that are well groomed and maintained. More advanced skiers will find some easily accessible off-piste that is often left un-tracked for two or three days after each snowfall! Opened only in 2015, the new single-span cable car above Wagrain has transformed the ski area making much of the area accessible without the need for any bus transfers.
Being close to both Salzburg and St Johann, Alpendorf is an ideal base to explore this beautiful region during the long summer months. St Johann-Alpendorf has a full time population of over 10,000 residents and you will find plenty of activities on offer throughout the year as well as a lively selection of bars and restaurants.
