Austria Property Hotspots in 2020
Austria is a great place to invest in property. Regardless of whether you want to live in beautiful surroundings, or are looking for a profitable holiday home, it’s definitely a country to consider.
Here’s some more information about the top property investment hotspots in Austria right now.
Austria’s top property locations in 2020
Saalbach Hinterglemm
Saalbach-Hinterglemm lies in the municipality of Salzburg, and is about 20km from Zell am See. It’s not only a great ski resort, but also a beautiful summer holiday destination; thanks to its green meadows and mountainous landscape. Both Saalbach and Hinterglemm are relatively small places, which makes them ideal for those seeking a more laid-back, peaceful way of life.
While there are some idyllic chalets to be had here, the luxury modern developments are becoming steadily more popular. Glemm Residence Hinterglemm is an excellent example, with panoramic views of the mountains beyond.
Konigsleiten
The mountain resort of Konigsleiten is fast becoming a major property hotspot for savvy investors. It’s the highest village in the Ziller Valley Arena, and has easy access to some of the best slopes in the area. Konigsleiten is also surprisingly lively for a small place, with several bars and restaurants for residents to enjoy.
Many of the properties here capitalise on the village’s sense of history, with plenty of traditionally-inspired architecture in evidence. Filzstein Resort Hochkrimml consists of six decadent Alpine-style chalets, plus two larger apartment buildings. Although the chalets are built to echo historic building design, there are plenty of nods to modernity; such as the communal wellness suite and private saunas.
Zell am See
Zell am See remains one of the country’s most sought-after locations for property investors. It’s a prime spot for skiers, with slopes suitable for people of all abilities. Its lakeside location is another major draw, particularly in the summer months, when the residents take to the waters. To add to the appeal, Zell am See also has a charming medieval town centre, which is the perfect place to while away an afternoon.
Unsurprisingly, developers have been busy in the area, and there are several luxury apartments and resorts to choose from. The Schmitten Chalets are three boutique properties, which are conveniently close to the Schmittenhohe cable car. Those on a budget might prefer smaller contemporary properties, such as the Post Apartments, which have lovely views over the lake.
Bad Hofgastein
The peaceful little town of Bad Hofgastein, situated in the scenic Gastein Valley, is fast becoming a real investor hotspot. Although it’s not a typical ski resort, it offers a different way of living; making the most of the stunning landscapes that surround it. It’s small, but there are still plenty of convenient shops and eateries for locals to enjoy.
As the town is located in the sunniest part of the valley, many of the properties come with sizeable terraces and balconies, to capitalise on the light. The market is a mix of older chalets and modern homes, such as Chalet Wallner, a recent development that consists of four apartments and one deluxe chalet.
